How To Stop Stress - Top 10 Techniques

Everyone experiences stress everyday and at times we can be overwhelmed by stress. But we can cope with stress successfully by applying these ten techniques for stopping stress.

1. Laugh More

As you've heard before: Laughter is the best medicine. The act of laughing changes your brain chemistry, strengthens your immune system, reduces stress hormone levels, and alters your perception of pain. So go ahead, whether its a chuckle, or an outright belly laugh - get a dose of laughter right now.

2. Exercise More

Prepare your body to fight stress by pumping up your energy level with exercise. You don't need a health club. Just get up and get moving.

3. Eat Better

Eat more fruits and vegetables. Energize your immune system with antioxidants. Avoid high fructose corn syrup and table sugar. Instead, go for high-fiber carbs in whole grain breads and cereals.

4. Sleep Better

Sleep allows your body to feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Go to bed earlier each day so you can eventually wake up without an alarm. Take naps when your schedule permits.

5. Enjoy Yourself

Take time out at least once a week to do something you enjoy doing. Take a walk. Get a massage. Read a book. Enjoy time connecting with friends or yourself.

6. Think Positively

Apply the Power of Positive Thinking by reviewing your daily successes and achievements instead of mistakes and failures.

7. Be Proactive

Take on the most demanding tasks in the morning when you have the most energy and resilience toward stress. Putting things off until the last minute is a recipe for disaster. Make a list of tasks and cross them off as they are completed to get a great sense of accomplishment.

8. Consider Significance

When events or situations create stress, consider how critical it will be in the future. Are they really that important?

9. Take Breaks

After being under the gun for a few hours, step back, take a breather and meditate or listen to music. This will give you time to rest your brain and maybe have a different outlook on the situation when you get back to it.

10. Simplify Your Life

Get rid of things you don't need and give them away to those that do. Look at your daily tasks and delegate what you can. Focus on what's valuable to you.

Hopefully, these techniques help you feel more relaxed and confident under stressful situations. But if you feel that you can't handle it alone, here is a medical device designed to help relieve stress:

Nice article. I really agree with getting enough sleep but i think that people should do this without the use of prescription drugs, there are many alternatives in the market today. I like pzizz, it's sound that helps you relax and sleep and it's always different so you don't end up getting bored with birds or water sounds day after day. you can check it out on http://www.pzizz.com
